HCCC Coaching Structure - 2020/21
Date of Event Hoppers Crossing Cricket Club : Mon Jun 1, 2020 10:16AM

After an exhaustive process and interviewing a number of excellent candidates, the committee of HCCC would like to announce its coaching structure for 2020/21 and beyond.

Captain Coach - Jack Rhodes

After having to step down prior to last season due to personal reasons, Jack has re-committed to the club for the next two years as playing Captain Coach. Most will already know Jack has a strong background in development across both cricket and football and has strong plans to create an environment to support growth and development. We look forward to starting the journey to make HCCC a destination once again.

Assistant Coach - Grant Jones

Grant is a Hoppers Crossing local who brings a great amount of experience in coaching and player development to the club. Prior to having the last two season away from the game, he most recently spent time at Carlton Cricket Club filling the role of their development manager. Prior to that he had success guiding and developing young crickets at Yarraville Cricket Club working across both the junior and senior program. In his playing days spent time at both Footscray and at Williamstown in the Subbies amongst other local cricket experiences.

Please join the committee in welcoming Grant to the club.

Spin Bowling Coach - Sanka Abeyruwan

After returning to the club last season, Sanka has re-committed to the club and will also this year alongside his playing commitments fill the role of spin-bowling coach. Sanka's experience and knowledge will be a great asset to develop the spinners of the future for HCCC working with both seniors and junior cricketers.

Development Coach/Under 17's Coach - Ian Mitchell

Ian is a Level 2 qualified coach who has been involved in the club for a number of years. Ian will continue his role as Under 17's coach and expand into a development role this year. Ian will help develop our young cricketers and assist along with the rest of the coaching group to integrate them into the senior cricket program.

The club is hoping to make further announcements in the coming weeks regarding other roles that we are looking to fill.

Over the coming weeks the coaching group will begin to formulate what pre-season will look like. At the moment this task is a bit difficult due to the uncertainty around ground availability and when the season will actually begin. All announcements will be made via our Facebook so please ensure you follow the page.

Lastly the club would like to thank Michael Gobbe, Tony Williams and Justin Goegan for their work last year. They took on the role at the request of the committee, and we will be forever grateful for their time, effort and contributions to lead the club through one of the toughest years in our history both and off the field.
